The City of São Paulo releases this Tuesday (28) the vaccination against the influenza virus, which causes the flu, for the entire population of the city, except for babies under six months of age.
Until Monday (27), the vaccine was only offered to people over 60 years old, children aged six months to five years, pregnant and postpartum women.
All those who did not receive the immunizing agent in 2021 can be vaccinated.
Immunization is carried out at 469 Basic Health Units (UBSs), drive-thruses, mega stations and partner pharmacies, the same places where vaccines against Covid-19 are applied.
Discharge of cases worries
The intention of the measure to expand the public that can be vaccinated is to alleviate the situation that the city calls “worrying”, with the increase in the number of cases of patients with respiratory symptoms in recent days.
In November 2021, the municipal public health service made almost 112,000 people with flu-like symptoms, 56,220 of which were suspected of Covid-19.
In December, until the 20th, the attendances had already surpassed 170 thousand, of which 79,482 were suspected of Covid-19.
The Municipal Health Department received 1 million doses of the flu vaccine from the Butantan Institute.
