The city of São Paulo begins, this Thursday (17), vaccination against Covid-19 for children aged six months to three years old with comorbidities, immunosuppressed and disabled, as well as indigenous people.
With the aim of accelerating the allocation of remaining doses, the Municipal Health Department opens this Wednesday (16) registration for the so-called “vaccine xepa”. Enrollment can be carried out by parents or guardians at the Basic Health Units (UBSs) in the city of São Paulo.
The immunization of the new age group will be carried out with the Pfizer vaccine with a specific formulation and dosage for young children, the only one currently authorized by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) for this age group. According to the city hall, the capital received 34,840 doses of the pediatric Pfizer vaccine.
Distribution to all Basic Health Units (UBSs) in the municipality’s network will be made on Wednesday (16). The vaccine schedule will be three doses. The second dose should be given four weeks (28 days) after the first dose. The third can be applied eight weeks (56 days) after the second dose.
According to the city hall, those responsible for the children must present, in this first phase of vaccination, proof of risk condition, that is, prescriptions, reports or other documents attesting to the comorbidities or other foreseen conditions. The documentation must contain, in addition to the child’s identification, the doctor’s stamp with CRM, and be within the validity period of two years of issuance.
Vaccination will take place in the Basic Health Units (UBSs), from Monday to Friday, and on Saturdays, in the integrated UBSs, from 7 am to 7 pm. If there are remaining doses of the vaccine near the end of each day’s activities in the units, the other children in this age group can take the vaccine, provided they live in the region. For this, proof of address must be presented for prior registration.
