City of SP can reach stability of infections by Ômicron this week

The city of São Paulo may have reached the peak and reached stability of infections by the Ômicron variant of the new coronavirus. The analysis is by the municipal secretary of Health, Edson Aparecido, who evaluated a drop in the moving average of cases in the capital during the weekend.

In the last week, Brazil registered records of new contaminations. On Saturday (15), the moving average of infections by the virus reached 68,028, a number 128.9% higher than the one recorded a week earlier.

The secretary explains that there may be underreporting and that this week’s data will be essential to estimate the peak and consequent stability of contamination.

The capital of São Paulo has shown an increase in calls and hospitalizations for Covid-19. There is also a lack of tests in the basic health network.

Aparecido explained that there is no overload in the high-complexity system, such as Intensive Care Units (ICUs), but a high in the care of infirmary services for patients with mild symptoms.

To avoid shortages, tests in the capital will be dedicated to people with at least two symptoms of Covid-19, preoperative surgical situation, the elderly, pregnant women, puerperal women and homeless people. The city has stock, for this public, for another 15 to 20 days.

The city of São Paulo authorized nine social organizations to buy tests for Covid-19. According to the municipal administration, the vacation period and lack of supplies in the international market got in the way of purchasing more tests.
