The Civil Defense of Santa Catarina confirmed the occurrence of a tornado in the late afternoon of this Wednesday (5) in the municipality of Timbó, in the region of the Middle Valley of Itajaí, with winds of more than 130 km/h.
According to specialists at the institution, the phenomenon was formed by the combination of a cold front with seasonal heat and humidity in the region. The report shows that there were also gusts of wind, heavy rain and lightning in the center-east of the state.
In the video, it is possible to see that part of a shed collapsed and houses were roofed. According to the city hall, there was no record of people injured or left homeless after the storm. In addition to landslides and falling trees, flooding was also detected in parts of the city.

Five weather alerts were issued by the Civil Defense to the residents of the affected regions. Of these, four at the observation level and one at the attention level for the city of Timbó/SC.
According to the organization, the storms also caused occurrences in the North Plateau, North Coast, Grande Florianópolis and Alto Vale do Itajaí regions.
