Civil Defense began sharing natural disaster alerts to the population through its official WhatsApp account. Messages can be sent by state and municipal civil defenses through a unified platform since Saturday (12).
The initiative is a partnership between the Ministry of Regional Development, WhatsApp and the company Robbu, specialized in communications automation.
To start receiving the messages, the user must register by sending a message to the telephone number (61) 2034-4611, or through the link https://wa.me/556120344611🇧🇷 After sending any message, it will be possible to share your current location or choose other locations of interest to you to start receiving alerts forwarded by local civil defense agencies.
It is possible to register more than one location, using the zip code, name of the municipality, or sharing the location via WhatsApp.
Currently, the population can already receive these alerts by SMS, Telegram, Pay TV or Google. The Civil Defense registration base that chooses to receive alerts via SMS should receive a message with the invitation to start receiving them via WhatsApp as well.
The initiative begins in the period leading up to the rains in the Southeast, and the agency’s expectation is that self-protection measures can help save lives.
