The São Paulo Civil Police arrested five suspects in an illegal dismantling in the Lagoa neighborhood, in Itapecerica da Serra, in the metropolitan region of São Paulo, last Saturday (20). The operation was launched by the Narcotics Investigations Department (Dise) of Carapicuíba.
According to investigations, the gang took stolen vehicles to the location, dismantled them and sold the parts on the underground market. To make the arrests, police officers searched the region and observed unusual movement in the warehouse.
The police approached a group with tools in their hands, during the process of dismantling a truck, and found some car parts, signal blockers, blowtorches and around 70 license plates.
When checking the origin of the parts using the engine number, it was identified that they belonged to a recently stolen truck. Questioned by the police, the suspects claimed that they knew the origin of the parts and confirmed that the place was a vehicle dismantling site to later sell parts at a lower price than the market price.
The suspects were taken to the Carapicuíba Sectional Police Station, where they remained detained. The incident was recorded as reception, criminal association and location/seizure of vehicle and object.
