The São Paulo Civil Police arrested a 34-year-old man red-handed last Thursday (27) with R$33,400 in counterfeit bills, as part of Operation Rescue, in Largo Santa Cecilia, in the central region of São Paulo.
The suspect was leaving the region’s subway station with a volume in one of his pants pockets and showed nervousness when he saw the agents. Faced with this attitude, the team approached him and found 100 missing notes of R$ 200.00, a cell phone and a bank card in the name of another person.
After that, the man took the police to the hotel where he was staying. At the site, 67 more notes of the same value were found, totaling 167 ballots.

A cell phone and a laptop with no proven origin were also seized.
The occurrence was registered for the crime of counterfeit currency in the 6th Police District, in Cambuci. Pre-trial detention of the accused was requested.
