Civil Police arrest suspects of scamming luxury hotel chain

Two suspects were arrested by the São Paulo Civil Police after carrying out scams, which consisted of embezzling revenue from an international chain of luxury hotels, which has units spread across the world.

According to the Civil Police, the suspects had the participation of a hotel employee to change the bank account that received payments made by customers by credit and debit card. Estimates indicate that losses reach the mark of R$612 thousand.

The investigative work was carried out by the 1st DCCiber Police Station (Investigations into Financial Fraud Practiced by Electronic Means), of the State Department of Criminal Investigations (Deic) and had the support of teams of civil police officers from Ceará, and the Specialized Police Station in Criminal Investigations , from Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo.

Arrests and seizures

Two arrest warrants were served in the municipalities of Eusébio, in Ceará, and in Vila Velha, in Espírito Santo.

The court also authorized search and seizure warrants at addresses linked to the suspects. Two vehicles were seized at the locations, including a Land Rover Velar SUV valued at R$480,000.

During the searches, the police also seized nine watches — three from the Rolex brand —, gold and silver jewelry valued at R$ 11 thousand reais, US$ 8.1 thousand (approximately R$ 41.6 thousand, and R$ 10 thousand in cash, four cell phones, two notebooks and a HD.

The detainees were charged with embezzlement and criminal association.
