Civil Police carry out action against one of the biggest drug schemes in RJ

The Civil Police are carrying out a mega-operation this Tuesday (21) against one of the biggest drug schemes ever discovered in Rio de Janeiro.

According to investigations, agents discovered the route used to transport drugs from Amazonas to Rio de Janeiro. In addition to the method of distribution on the hill and on the asphalt, the Civil Police also found that the criminals laundered the money through payments to people and companies, including a meat processing plant in Amazonas, belonging to a former mayor of a municipality in that state. The politician had his mandate revoked for abuse of economic power.

Financial investigations found that, over a two-year period, the organization handled approximately R$30 million in illicit resources.

Operation Rota do Rio carries out 99 search and seizure warrants in the states of Rio de Janeiro, Amazonas, Minas Gerais and Pará.

In Rio, there are searches in communities such as Fallet-Fogueteiro and at addresses in the south zone, such as Ipanema, Copacabana and Barra da Tijuca, in addition to the Lakes Region, such as Cabo Frio and Búzios.

Among those investigated are members of the Red Command. According to the Civil Police, a branch of the criminal organization was created in the state of Amazonas, forming a new acronym for the faction, CVAM.

The investigation was conducted by the Police Department for Combating Criminal Organizations and Money Laundering (DCOC-LD), with the support of the Narcotics Repression Department (DRE), the Special Resources Coordination (CORE) and the Crime Repression Department Organized (DRCO) of the Civil Police of Amazonas.
