The Civil Police of the Federal District launched this Wednesday (8) an operation to dismantle a group specializing in the production of false documents, which were used to issue visas at embassies in several countries.
the so-called operation medium – or intermediary in Latin – is serving two search and seizure warrants: one at a residence, and another at a tourist agency in Guarulhos, in the state of São Paulo. This action has the support of the São Paulo Civil Police.
The investigations began last month, based on complaints made by embassies about the possible use of false documents in visa issuance processes.
Eight people were caught and charged requiring visas to enter and stay in other countries using false documents.
The Civil Police of the DF pointed out that the suspects hired a tourist agency in São Paulo for an average of R$ 30,000, to assist in filling out forms, making appointments and providing false documents – such as proof of employment relationships, declarations income tax, bank statements and proof of residency.
They will answer for the crime of using false documents. Other members of the group will also answer for the crimes of forgery of documents and criminal association.
According to the delegate of the Civil Police of the DF Wisllei Salomão, “there is a suspicion that at least four people involved in the crime have been acting since 2018, providing false documents to people from several states”. He added that investigations are still ongoing with the help of embassies, and that visas already granted that are considered illegal may be cancelled, forcing holders to return to Brazil.
