Police officers from the Delegated Services Defense Station carried out an operation at the Assador restaurant, in Aterro do Flamengo, in the South Zone of Rio, and found that the establishment was stealing water.
The action, carried out this Thursday (18), also included the participation of an expert from the Carlos Éboli Criminalistics Institute and technicians from the Águas do Rio concessionaire. The company was responsible for the complaint that triggered the operation.
The steakhouse was fined after two bypasses were identified before the water meter. One of them supplied the restaurant's lake and the other entered the building. The site has two cisterns, one with a capacity of 35 thousand liters and the other with a capacity of 60 thousand liters.
According to the delegate responsible for the investigations, Marcello Braga Maia, the manager of the establishment was taken to the police station, where he gave a statement and identified the owners of the place.
The legal entity was notified, the clandestine connection was disconnected and the water meter was externalized so that service provision could be regularized. A police investigation was launched to determine who was responsible for the theft.
A CNN try to contact the restaurant's press office.
