A civil police officer died after being shot during a robbery last Tuesday afternoon (6) in São Paulo. The case occurred in front of the São Camilo Hospital, in Pompeia, west of the capital of São Paulo. He was rescued, but he didn't survive.
Investigator Paulo Henrique da Silva, 45 years old, worked at the 4th Narcotics Investigations Station (Dise), of Denarc (Department of Narcotics Investigations).
Security cameras recorded the crime. The images show that the police officer got into a physical fight with the criminal, until he fell in the street and was shot. Shortly after the agent falls, the man takes the investigator's gun and runs away.
According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP), the police officer was standing on top of his motorcycle when he was approached by the criminal who announced the robbery. In addition to the gun, the thief also took the investigator's cell phone.
The case was registered as a robbery — robbery followed by death — by the 3rd Specialized Center for the Repression of Crimes and Miscellaneous Occurrences (Siege). According to the police, efforts are underway to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the crime.
Through social media, the secretary of public security, Guilherme Derrite, said that the police are already committed to locating the criminal. “I wish my condolences to family and friends and reinforce that this crime will not go unpunished,” he said.
The Civil Police also expressed their regret for what happened. The corporation stated that it “sympathizes with friends and family in this moment of pain”.
