Clandestine badge factory is closed by police in Baixada Fluminense

A fake badge factory was closed by police officers Environmental Protection Department (DPMA), this Monday (22), in Nova Iguaçu, Baixada Fluminense. At least one hundred badges from police and armed forces across the country and 24 molds used in production were seized.

The material included identifications from the Civil Police of the Federal District, Goiás, Ceará, as well as badges used by judges and armed forces officers, for example.

The police will investigate how this material would be used and by whom.

“We still have a long way to go. That was just the beginning. This factory was closed. One person has already been interviewed and we will continue this investigation. There is a possibility that badges could be used in other crimes. But there is also the possibility of these parts being produced for other companies. That is why the investigation must continue to solve the crimes that have been identified so far”, explained delegate Wellington Vieira.

A man was taken to the police station to provide clarification. In his statement, he said that he was hired by a company in Goiás to make the pieces. According to the delegate, badges can only be manufactured after a tender and contract with a public body.

“We have not yet found any type of bid. Anything. But, of course, we will investigate. But initially, the hypothesis being investigated is that it produces without bidding. And it's a very dangerous thing, right? He produces it, then sells it to someone who is not a police chief and this guy hangs his badge on his chest and goes about carrying out false inspections, false investigations”, said the police chief.

At the scene, the police also identified other crimes, such as carrying out polluting activities without a license, possession of chemical products without authorization, environmental pollution and forgery.
