A clandestine drug refining laboratory was found, this Tuesday (8), in the city of Rio Claro, in the interior of São Paulo. Two men, aged 26 and 39, were arrested and, in total, 47 kilos of drugs were seized.
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), investigations against those involved began with a series of vehicle thefts in the municipality of Americana, in the Campinas region.
The robberies led the civil police to discover that they would use a “deposit” to hide the stolen vehicles and then checked an address, a property in the Jardim São Paulo neighborhood, where the police carried out a campaign in front of the place, until they identified the two suspects, who were addressed.
According to the SSP, during the searches, the team located a narcotics “laboratory” with four rooms that were prepared with greenhouses for the cultivation of marijuana.
The police seized 47 kilos of the drug, as well as bags of soil, plastic pots, lamp ballasts, precision scales and other objects used to prepare the drug.

“One of the men was responsible for the property for around a year, using the place to plant and distribute the drug in several cities, including the capital of São Paulo,” stated the investigators.
The Public Security Secretariat reported that the duo was taken to the Rio Claro General Investigations Station and the case was registered as drug trafficking, association for the trafficking and manufacture of narcotics.
