A 42-year-old woman was arrested for mistreating dozens of animals in a clandestine kennel in the city of Gravataí (RS). 65 dogs and two cats were found in inadequate and “tiny” cages. The arrest took place on Monday morning (27), in the Vila Cledi neighborhood.
According to the Civil Police, who carried out the arrest, the place where the animals were was an area with feces, dead rodents, and little or no food. Many of the cats and dogs were sick and malnourished, and two were found dead.
After being arrested, the woman was taken to the Gravataí DPPA to carry out legal proceedings.
Eduardo Amaral, DP delegate, informed the CNN who received a complaint from an NGO (Pata Santa) and, upon checking the situation, found a kennel without any structure, where they rescued the 67 animals.
Other irregularities are also being investigated, such as the carrying out of veterinary procedures without qualified professionals and the sale of donated animals under the pretext of covering unjustified expenses.
