Clarifications on the participation of the Armed Forces in the shooting of the film “EXPENDABLES 4”, in the period from October 29 to November 23, 2021 were given by the Minister of National Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, answering a question submitted to Parliament by KKE MPs Nikos Papanastis on “Unpaid members of the Armed Forces under the responsibility of the Ministry of National Defense”.
Specifically, Mr. Panagiotopoulos mentioned the following:
-The Ministry of National Defense (Ministry of Defense), after consultation with both GEETHA and the General Staff, approved, for reasons of wider visibility of the Armed Forces (ED), the disposal of three vehicles of the Special Warfare Administration (DEA) of the General Staff. and ten Army (SS) officers for TV footage of the movie “EXPENDABLES 4”, which took place from October 29 to November 23, 2021,
The specific benefit was clearly described in a relevant contract where, on the one hand, the contracting company undertook the sole civil and criminal liability for any material damage or bodily harm that could be caused, on the other hand, it accepted that the faculty vehicles were rented. The total price, for the availability and employment of staff, together with the consumption of fuel and lubricants, amounted to the amount of 21,069.33 euros paid by the film production company.
Regarding the compensation process of the staff that participated in the above activity, Mr. Panagiotopoulos stated that it is in progress.
In particular, he added, a credit of 2,348 euros has been allocated by GEETHA for the financial compensation of the faculty staff. At the same time, out of the ten officers deployed by the Army, three have already been reimbursed. For the next three the payment orders have been approved and their compensation is expected to be paid, while for the next two the payment order is expected to be issued after the completion of the control of the supporting documents by the competent Central Army Fund. The remaining two of the ten in total are not entitled to compensation as the distance they traveled was less than sixty (60) kilometers.
The allocation of personnel and means of ED to third parties, is done with great sparing and only after a relevant opinion of the General Staffs, which after taking into account all the data decide accordingly, he concluded.
