Registration for the 2022 Enem (National High School Exam) started this Tuesday (10). THE CNN Specialist in education Claudia Costin spoke, this Wednesday (11), about taking the exam and the difficulties that the pandemic continues to impose on students.
Costin pointed out that the pandemic years had a huge impact on student attendance: abstentions rose a lot in the 2020 Enem and enrollment rates dropped in 2021.
THE CNN Specialist also pointed out that most young people interrupt their studies after high school. Only 10% continue studying in technical courses, while 20% advance to higher education.
“In other words, there is a lack of young people continuing their studies in these two areas”, he said.
THE CNN Specialist he said he hopes that, with the return of face-to-face classes, young people will register and attend the Enem.
In times of digital revolution, not having higher education can take a big toll in terms of employability and building the future
Claudia Costin, CNN Specialist
Costin also stressed the importance of facilitating access to higher education for all social classes, especially the lowest. “Education should be a factor that allows for social mobility.”
