Cláudio Castro, governor of RJ, tests positive for Covid-19 for the second time

The governor of Rio de Janeiro, Cláudio Castro, tested positive for Covid-19 this Sunday (2), according to a publication on his social networks.

He decided to carry out a test to detect the virus, after the Secretary of State for Finance, Nelson Rocha, with whom he met in person last Wednesday (29), inform him about the positive diagnosis for the disease on Friday ( 31).

The governor has a mild runny nose and took the two doses of vaccine. He waits the fourth month to receive the booster dose.

Castro had been infected in December 2020 for the first time.

The Secretary of State for Government, Rodrigo Bacellar, who participated in the meeting, also tested positive. The portfolio holder is asymptomatic.

Covid infections in Brazil

Brazil recorded, this Sunday, 28 deaths by Covid-19, according to data from Conass (Regional Council of Health Secretariats). In addition, 1,721 new infections by the disease were reported.

Minas Gerais, Roraima, Rio Grande do Sul and the Federal District did not report new cases and deaths.
