Specialists of the analytical company IDC summed up the results of the fourth quarter of 2021 and the year as a whole in the cloud infrastructure equipment market. Counts include servers, storage, and Ethernet switches.
According to analysts, in the fourth quarter of 2021, $21.1 billion was spent on cloud infrastructure equipment in the world, which is 13.5% more than in the fourth quarter of 2020. This was the second quarter in a row when the said market grew in annual terms. IDC experts expect growth to continue in subsequent quarters.

In general, over the year, spending on cloud infrastructure grew by 8.8% and reached $73.9 billion.
For comparison: spending on infrastructure that is not related to cloud computing in the fourth quarter increased by 1.5% compared to the same period in 2020, to $ 17.2 billion, and for the year as a whole – by 4.2% , to 59.6 billion dollars.
For 2022, IDC experts predict growth of 21.7%. If this forecast comes true, the market will be $90.0 billion this year. As for non-cloud computing infrastructure, spending on it in 2022 will decrease by 0.3%, to $59.4 billion.
