Clubs and championships close partnerships to launch NFTs

On Thursday (25), the company Crypto.com became an official partner of the Copa Libertadores da América from 2023 to 2026 and the first brand linked to the VAR (Virtual Referee Assistant). The union seeks to develop NFTs (Non-Fungible Token, or non-fungible tokens) associated with the competition.

To buy digital assets, simply register on the Crypto.com platform. However, the tokens, which will be sold in dollars or will accept to be paid by the wallet compatible with ERC20 tokens (NFTs produced on the blockchain network following ETH’s technical specifications), are still under development.

The cryptocurrency platform will have its brand exposure in stadiums, events and game broadcasts, as well as its tokens. The first time the company appeared was on Saturday (27) in Montevideo, Uruguay, where Palmeiras faced Flamengo for Libertadores.

“Conmebol Libertadores is the pinnacle of South American club football – this exciting and beautiful sport, of ups and downs, that unites us like no other,” said Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com. “Our survey shows that Latin America is leading the way in cryptocurrency adoption, with 40% of Latin Americans saying they are interested in buying digital assets in the near future.”

The football event was already on Marszalek’s radar, as the game will increase the company’s portfolio. Crypto.com recently partnered with Visa to launch cryptocurrency cards in Brazil.

“Conmebol is always working to be a leading institution. We are convinced that this partnership will be beneficial to South American football”, said José Astigarraga, Secretary General of the Copa Libertadores da América.

Santos ea Binance

The tokens also gained the appeal of Brazilian clubs. Last Friday (26), Binance, an infrastructure provider for the blockchain ecosystem and cryptocurrencies, announced a one-off sponsorship with Santos Futebol Clube to launch “Fan Token” for fans.

Changpeng Zhao, the CEO and co-founder of Binance, comments that Santos FC’s entry into the company’s platform is a milestone. “Binance Fan Tokens represent a powerful new way for fans to express their support and love for their favorite teams,” he says.

The brand was stamped on the front of the shirt, and appeared for the first time in the game against Internacional, yesterday (28), in a match in the Brazilian Championship. Binance will also be in training gear for the remainder of the season.

So far it has not been defined how many FC Fan Tokens will be and how much they will cost. But, according to information released to the press, the tokens will be listed on Binance’s platform on December 1st.

other teams

Corinthians, for example, is also another team that signed an agreement, in September, with the Bitcoin Market, to launch cryptocurrencies aimed at the club’s fans, in addition to financial education actions. The company has its name stamped on the team shirt.

The asset named $SCCP was quoted this Monday (29), at 5:36 pm, Brasília time, at 2.18 Chile. To buy the digital currency you must have the Chiliz crypto in your wallet. At the same time, the CHZ cost US$ 0.4631, with an increase of 8.15%.

Two other teams that also joined the tokens are Flamengo and Portuguesa. The asset of the Rio de Janeiro team, $MENGO, cost 4.60 Chiliz, while that of the São Paulo club, $POR, was worth 2.27 CHZ.

Tokens for the three teams can be purchased on the Socios.com website.
