In 2020, the market for CMOS-type image sensors, which previously showed steady growth, has slowed noticeably. Analysts attribute this to the crisis caused by the pandemic. Sales growth last year was only 3%. For comparison, the average annual rate since 2010 was approximately 16%.
An increase of 19% is forecasted for the current year. In monetary terms, the market will grow to $ 22.8 billion. For the period up to 2025, an average annual growth of 12.0% is projected. If this prediction comes true, the CMOS-type image sensor market will reach $ 33.6 billion in 2025. If we operate with indicators in physical terms, the volume of supplies will grow by an average of 14.9% per year – from 6.7 billion units in 2020 to 13.5 billion units in 2025.
The fastest growing segment is called sensors for automotive systems. The average annual sales growth in this segment is projected at 33.8%, and in monetary terms by 2025 the segment will grow to $ 5.1 billion.
