The National Council of Justice (CNJ) unanimously approved this Tuesday (14), the creation of the National Judicial Examination.
Passing the test will be a requirement for candidates to register for judge competitions. Applies to those interested in joining the Federal, State, Labor and Military Courts.
The exam will be conducted by the National School for Training and Improvement of Magistrates, currently led by Minister Mauro Campbell Marques, of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).
According to CNN found, one of the motivations for implementing the National Exam is to combat possible influences or favoritism in competitions held in the states.
The president of the CNJ and the Federal Supreme Court (STF), minister Luís Roberto Barroso, said that it is a prior qualification exam that does not take away the courts’ ability to hold their own competitions.
“Proof of passing the national exam is a requirement for enrolling in these competitions,” he stated.
According to the document, the resolution seeks to standardize the level of knowledge of candidates for the magistracy, in addition to valuing aspects such as reasoning and the “vocation” for the career more than the “memorization” of content.
The exam will be eliminatory, not classificatory. It must be carried out at least once a year, simultaneously in the capitals of all states of the Federation and in the Federal District.
The resolution does not interfere with competitions with notices already published until the date of its publication. The publication of new notices is prohibited until the National Exam is regulated by the National School for Training and Improvement of Magistrates.
