A CNN Brasil announced this Tuesday (14) the hiring of journalist Boris Casoy. Scheduled for its debut in January 2022, Casoy will be a commentator on Freedom of Opinion, as part of the Novo dia program, which airs from Monday to Friday, between 6:00 am and 11:00 am.
Having worked for major media outlets, Casoy became known for his role as anchor of TJ Brasil, of SBT, between 1988 and 1997. During this period, the presenter began to issue his opinions on the reports shown, which was a novelty for the Brazilian television journalism at the time.
Casoy launched the slogan “this is a shame”, which he used many times at the end of his comments related to scandals involving politicians and public authorities. Another famous expression he created was “it is necessary to clean up the country”, which marked the time of the impeachment of former president Fernando Collor de Mello, in 1992.
The journalist started his career at the age of 15, as a sports narrator on Eldorado radio. In print journalism, he was policy editor, editor-in-chief and columnist for the Panel section on political backstage at Folha de S.Paulo. At 36, he assumed the position of editorial director at the newspaper, where he remained until the end of the 1980s.
On television, Casoy was a news anchor at RecordTV (1997 to 2005), Band (2008 to 2016) and RedeTV!, where she worked until last year.
