Journalists from CNN Luciana Barreto, Matheus Meirelles and Basília Rodrigues are among the most admired journalists in the Brazilian press.
They were present, on Monday night (13), at the 50 Most Admired Black Journalists in the Brazilian Press award. The event was held at Unibes Cultural, in São Paulo.
The initiative of the 50 Most Admired Black Journalists in the Brazilian Press was a joint action between the news program Jornalistas&Cia (and Portal dos Jornalistas), the magazine Neo Mondo, the website 1 Papo Reto and the JP Network of Journalists for Diversity in Communication.
Basília, who was among the ten most admired names in the country, said that “there was a really magical atmosphere” at the awards ceremony. “Many black people honored in the same place and from different generations. There were young people in their early 20s and seniors over 50, both from newsrooms and journalism academics. Important people in the construction of diversity studies and projects.”
For anchor Luciana Barreto, Monday night (13) was one of the most important of her career. “The prize was looking to the side. I saw there, in the same space, people who helped me get here, and a powerful generation of black journalists who know exactly what they are doing and where they are going. I’m still emotional,” he adds.
For reporter Matheus Meirelles, it was “beautiful to see and be among so many talented journalists who have made a difference in newsrooms in every corner of this country”. “The ceremony was, without a doubt, a milestone for Brazilian journalism. We are present. We are no exception. We want more! And we need more meetings, gatherings, celebrations. May it be a turning point! Long live the black press in this country!”
Attentive to the values and importance of plurality in the production of content and journalistic coverage, the CNN Brazil salutes all winners and honorees at the awards.
