US President Joe Biden will highlight his administration’s achievements during the US presidential debate CNN this Thursday (27), White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters on Air Force One, the American Presidential plane.
Jean-Pierre added that Biden will try to contrast his vision for the country with that of “extremist Republicans.”
“Whenever there is an opportunity for the president to speak directly to the American public – in this case, there will be millions of Americans watching – he takes that opportunity very seriously,” said Jean-Pierre.
Biden’s press secretary said the president will look for opportunities to differentiate his administration’s priorities from those of a possible Trump administration.
Jean-Pierre pointed to the 2022 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade. Wade — the decision that guaranteed the right to abortion for all Americans — and the sequence of laws and judicial measures that restrict access to reproductive care after that as an example.
“These are the things you’ll continue to hear the president talk about, the contrast — whether it’s the economy, whether it’s expanding health care — making sure we’re giving Americans a little bit of breathing room and not giving tax cuts to billionaires and corporations,” he said.
Asked about the Trump campaign, which claims Biden is using something to improve performance, Jean-Pierre said: “I don’t think I should dignify that with a response.”
