CNN Debate: Polls show a tight race between Trump and Biden

The latest update of the research showcase CNN which incorporates new polls released on Wednesday (26) by the New York Times with Siena College, shows a tight race between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, with no clear leader, ahead of the presidential debate in CNN this Thursday (27).

Nationwide, the current average is 49% support for former President Donald Trump and 47% support for President Joe Biden, similar to the 49-49 tie found in the poll shortly before Trump’s May 30 conviction in New York.

The new average incorporates research that meets the standards of the CNN released starting June 10, entirely after Trump’s verdict.

Different individual polls released since Trump’s conviction have pointed to movements in opposite directions. The polls included in the average include some that find a balanced race and others that point to an advantage for Trump.

The Fox News poll suggested that support for Biden has grown in recent months, though that shift is within the poll’s margin of sampling error, while both the Quinnipiac poll and the Times/Siena poll suggested a shift in Trump’s favor, with the former president holding the lead in both.

Taken as a whole, the trajectory of the race among the national electorate remains stable and the main conclusion is similar to what it has been for months: the race is extremely tight.
