CNN decides not to show photo and name of attacker in Blumenau

A CNN Brazil decided not to display any image, name or other information about the author of the attack in Blumenau (SC).

The editorial position complies with the request of the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina and follows the recommendation of specialists, under the risk of exposure triggering a contagion effect and stimulating future acts of violence.

This Wednesday (5) a man invaded the Cantinho Bom Pastor day care center in Blumenau and killed four children. The author of the attack was arrested after turning himself in at the police station in the region.

Four injured children were admitted to the hospital: two 5-year-old girls and two boys, aged 5 and 3.

“They were assisted by the emergency and emergency team and the families are receiving support from the multiprofessional team of the institution”, informed the hospital to CNN .

A fifth injured child was referred to another hospital.

The mayor of Blumenau, Mário Hildebrandt, said earlier that he had created a crisis office. Already the Secretary of Education canceled the classes of the state network.

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva spoke about the attack: “There is no greater pain than that of a family that loses its children or grandchildren, even more so in an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children”, the president posted on Twitter.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, announced this afternoon that R$ 150 million will be allocated to municipalities to support school security.
