Neither Vice President Kamala Harris nor former President Donald Trump have established a wide lead in the race for the White House in two of the southern swing states, according to new CNN polls conducted by SSRS.
Likely voters in Georgia split 48% for Trump and 47% for Kamala, and in North Carolina, she has 48% to his 47%.
The results are within the margin of error in both states, suggesting there is no clear leader in either race.
North Carolina, which helped Barack Obama narrowly win in 2008, has voted Republican in the last three presidential elections.
In 2020, however, it was the state where Trump had his smallest margin of victory. Joe Biden defeated Trump in Georgia by less than a percentage point four years ago, becoming the first Democrat to win the state since Bill Clinton in 1992.
