Co-op, Hawaii and a huge fleet: Ubisoft officially unveiled The Crew Motorfest

A few weeks ago, insiders leaked some information about the upcoming The Crew franchise racing simulator, stating that Ubisoft will hold an official presentation on January 31 of this year. And the providers of classified information turned out to be right – yesterday, at 20:00 Moscow time, the employees of the Ubisoft Ivory Tower studio officially announced The Crew Motorfest, telling quite a lot of interesting information about the project. For example, as expected, the video game remains in the arcade racing segment, so there will be no hardcore driving physics or car settings – the developers leave the entry threshold as low as possible so as not to limit their audience.

At the same time, the information about Hawaii was also confirmed – the developers decided to send gamers to the island of Oahu, which will be fully available for study in a free format. The open world implies that the gamer will be able to go to almost any part of the island in a suitable vehicle in search of points of interest. And, judging by the video, there will be something to see – the developers promise many types of races, ranging from drifting along mountain roads to trips along mountain slopes and forests in off-road vehicles. In terms of gameplay diversity and available vehicles, the novelty is vaguely reminiscent of Forza Horizon, which, of course, cannot but rejoice.

The authors of the project even prepared a storyline for The Crew Motorfest, although, as is to be expected for Ubisoft games, it is here more for show. At the center of the story is a kind of car festival, in which gamers will have to spend time in special races, watch thematic events and other interesting things. However, within the framework of a rather relaxing atmosphere of the island, this plot should not cause complaints from the audience, and no one expected dramaturgy from a racing simulator. But on the cars, the developers did their best – Ubisoft promised hundreds of iconic vehicles for every taste and color.

Of the interesting features of The Crew Motorfest, it is worth highlighting the presence of a cooperative, but there is no exact information whether it will be complete (with support for PC and consoles). And although the developers are not yet ready to name the exact release date of the new race (they promise to release it before the end of the year), the project is already being recruited for closed testing. The first test phase of the race will include 2,000 PC gamers who have been active in The Crew 2 and have applied to participate in the Ubisoft Insider Program. We can only hope that the testing will be successful, and the game will eventually turn out to be really interesting.
