A decree was published in the Official Gazette (DOU) this Monday (2) that consolidates the structure of the Ministry of Finance, commanded by Fernando Haddad in the Lula (PT) government, and determines the return of the Activities Control Council Financial (Coaf) for the folder.
Coaf is Brazil’s financial intelligence unit, which works to prevent and combat money laundering and corruption.
At the beginning of the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government, the body left the Ministry of Economy for the Ministry of Justice, led at the time by former judge Sérgio Moro. Afterwards, he returned to Paulo Guedes’ command, in the Economy, and then went to the Central Bank, where he was until before the edition of Lula’s provisional measure.
This second edition (2) of the DOU also contains the provisional measure that restructures the ministries and other federal bodies for the new government. In addition to the return of Coaf, a new consultancy for Social Participation and Diversity was created at the Ministry of Finance.
