Coin ATM Radar: The rate of installation of new cryptomats is falling in the world

The number of crypto ATMs on the planet is constantly growing, however, at the beginning of 2022, the installation rate began to decline, for the first time ever.

According to data from the Coin ATM Radar portal, 1,817 cryptomats were installed around the world in the first two months of the year. This is noticeably less than in January-February 2021, when 2,435 such self-service machines were installed around the world. In 2020, for the same period, 760 cryptomats were installed, and in 2019 – 250.

One of the main reasons for the slowdown in installation rates may be market saturation – now 95% of crypto ATMs (34,248) are installed in North America. In 2022, 93% of all new devices were in the US. In Europe, in January-February, the number of cryptomats even decreased by one machine. This is due to the complexity of doing business in various jurisdictions.

In total, there are 36,067 cryptomats in the world now. The indicator will continue to grow, as, for example, only El Salvador plans to increase the number of such devices per year from 207 to 1,500. In November, Bitcoin Latinum announced its intention to install 100,000 cryptomats in the United States.
