According to the forecast of the head of the Department of International Studies of Coinbase Institute, David Duong, in September, the full season of altcoins may unfold in the crypto.

Duong explained this by the mitigation of the policy of the US Federal Reserve (Fed). The consumer price index in the United States for July demonstrated the maintenance of inflation at 2.7% in annual calculus, therefore it is highly likely that in September the regulator will reduce interest rates. FRS actions motivate retail investors to more actively buy volatile and high -risk assets, Duong explained.

Another factor affecting the onset of the altcoin season may be a decrease in the dominance of bitcoin in the cryptocurrency market. The Coinbase analyst defined the altcoin season as a period when at least 75% of the 50 largest altcoins surpass Bitcoin in market capitalization for more than 90 days. For several months, the dominance of bitcoin decreased by about 10% – in May 2025, this figure totaled 65%, and by August it decreased to 59%.

This is an almost minimum indicator from the end of January, signaling the beginning of the overcoming of capital in altcoin, Coinbase analyst noted. According to Dung’s observations, the current impulse is also fed by news about creating a favorable regulatory situation for regulating stablecoins in the United States and the growing interest of large companies to the ether.

Joanna Liang, founder of the Singapore venture company Jsquare, agreed that to start the altcoin season, a favorable macroeconomic situation and a decrease in bitcoin dominance are needed. The previous seasons of altcoins were determined by various factors: primary offers of coins (ICO) in 2017–2018, the appearance of first -level blockchains in 2018–2019, as well as the development of decentralized finance (Defi) and non -replaceable tokens (NFT) in 2021–2022, Lyan specified.

Recently, the FBS international broker called three cryptocurrencies with the most powerful price dynamics and the growth potential in the upcoming season of alternative coins.
