American cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has applied to join the self-regulatory organization National Futures Association to launch cryptocurrency futures trading.

The application was submitted yesterday, 15 September. At the same time, on the website of the National Futures Association (NFA), the exchange is listed as “an NFA participant awaiting approval.” Coinbase noted in a tweet that joining the NFA will be “the next step in expanding our offering and trading in futures and derivatives on our platforms.”

Brett Tejpaul, head of Institutional Client Acquisition at Coinbase, emphasized that the ability to trade derivatives, including cryptocurrency futures, is very important. According to him, a stable derivatives market is now being formed, including both futures and options, and structured products, and the offer of such products is necessary to attract customers.

Earlier it became known that Coinbase successfully sold $ 2 billion in debt bonds, while the total volume of orders for the purchase of these securities reached $ 7 billion.
