Coinbase users will be able to buy NFTs with Mastercard

Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase and payment giant Mastercard are preparing a new initiative – exchange users will be able to buy collectible tokens using fiat funds on Mastercard cards.

Now NFTs can be purchased for cryptocurrency on sites like OpenSea. However, on Coinbase’s NFT trading and issuing platform, collectible tokens can also be purchased using fiat funds on Mastercard cards. The process itself will not be significantly different from buying a smartphone or a T-shirt in regular online retail stores.

“Just as we helped millions of people get access to Bitcoin for the first time, we want to offer access to NFTs as well. Through cooperation with Mastercard, we will be able to provide a better service for clients of the Coinbase NFT platform. We plan to keep working to bring this capability to new customers through the scale of Mastercard,” the Coinbase blog post reads.

Recall that plans to launch a platform for issuing and trading NFT Coinbase became known in October last year. Interest in the site was so great that when Coinbase opened a waiting list for early access to the platform, the exchange website could not withstand the influx of customers. The number of users registered on the platform has exceeded 1 million people.
