At the end of the first quarter of 2021, bitcoin and its forks showed the worst growth in percentage terms. At least this demonstrates reporting of the top 20 cryptocurrencies from CoinMetrics.
Bitcoin and its forks (BCH and BSV) have grown by almost 90%, 45% and 21% since the beginning of the year, respectively. Moreover, BSV turned out to be the weakest cryptocurrency of the entire list.

Thus, the total growth of the three cryptocurrencies is second only to stellar (XLM), which has grown by almost 199% in three months. In addition to Bitcoin, litecoin (LTC) and monero (XMR) showed weak results, which grew by almost 46% and 70%.
Altcoins are rallying
Altcoins turned out to be the leaders in terms of growth. Elon Musk’s favorite token dogecoin (DOGE) is in first place. Its growth in the first quarter was 863%. The second place was taken by the native token of the Binance crypto exchange – binance coin (BNB). It was able to grow by 610% in the first three months of 2021.
The top three best-paying altcoins in 2021 are closed by cardano (ADA), which jumped 577%.
It should be noted that altcoins are becoming popular not only among the crypto community, but also among traditional investors. So earlier, the largest crypto fund Grayscale Investments launched five new trusts. According to the head of the fund, Michael Zonnenshai, demand from investors “has never been so high.”
