Cold front brings low temperatures to the South, Southeast and Midwest, says Inmet

The weekend can be cold in much of Brazil. A cold front that acts in the south of the country should bring down temperatures in the Midwest, Southeast and South, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet).

This Saturday (11), some regions of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul recorded temperatures below 0ºC. In São Joaquim (SC) the temperature reached -3.9ºC. In São José dos Ausentes (RS), the minimum was -3.6ºC.

In São Paulo, Saturday morning began with the sky covered by heavy clouds and inclement weather. The average temperature in São Paulo was 14ºC.

In Serra do Rio do Rastro in Santa Catarina, Saturday morning was intensely cold.

The low temperatures froze lanes in the mountain region and the Military Highway Police had to work to remove the ice.

forecast for sunday

Inmet warns that intense cold should remain in some areas of the South, Southeast and Midwest, which may have strong frosts on Sunday morning.

The institute warns that in the Serrada region of Rio Grande do Sul, Planalto Sul, midwest of Santa Cataria and southern Paraná there is a forecast of heavy frost on Sunday morning (12) – which impairs visibility on the roads.

There is also the possibility of light or moderate frost in southern São Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Serra da Mantiqueira.

In parts of Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul, minimum temperatures will be below 0ºC.
