Cold front: eight capitals are expected to record the lowest temperature of the year this week

The first cold of 2024 is expected to arrive in Brazil starting this Wednesday (17). According to data from Climatempo, eight capitals are expected to record the lowest temperature of the year in the coming days, as a result of the cold front that hits the South, Southeast and Center-West of the country.

Porto Alegre (RS), Florianópolis (SC), Curitiba (PR), São Paulo (SP), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG), Vitória (ES) and Campo Grande (MS) are expected to fall up to 10 degrees on the thermometers during the end of this week. The coldest capital will be Curitiba, with a forecast of up to 11°C. Check out the full predictions below .

According to Climatempo, the passage of a mass of cold air of polar origin will be stronger over the south of Brazil, where it may even freeze in the highest regions of the mountains, but the drop in temperature will also be felt in Mato Grosso do Sul and the states in the Southeast region.

The coldest days within the period of activity of this polar mass will be Thursday (18) and Friday (19). The dawn and dawn of Saturday (20) will still be cold in the South of Brazil and in some areas of the Southeast, but from the afternoon onwards the cold air goes to the ocean and begins to move away from Brazil, which will allow it to rise temperature on the same day. The early hours of Sunday (21) will also have mild temperatures, but with a forecast of a hot afternoon.
