The cold front “is crossed by Southeast Brazil”, according to Climatempo meteorologist Maria Clara Sassaki. In an interview with CNN Radio, she stated that the cold front left the South, reached the Southeast region and now crosses Brazil, creating a “band of cloud cover from the state of São Paulo to Rondônia”.
Behind this band, according to the meteorologist, there is a “mass of polar air, responsible for the cold and the sharp drop in temperatures”.
In the states of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and southern Minas Gerais, this Friday (19) will be quite rainy, according to Maria Clara Sassaki. “From Saturday (20), the clouds begin to dissipate, and the low temperatures stay until at least the beginning of next week.”
In the capital of Rio de Janeiro, there is a chance of moderate to heavy rain in some points, which puts “the most vulnerable areas at risk of landslides on alert”, according to her.
South region
According to the Climatempo meteorologist, for the weekend, there is a chance of frost in the three states of the region.
“This morning we already had reports in Paraná about the occurrence of frost, and the lowest temperatures persist on Saturday and Sunday. Starting on Sunday, in Rio Grande do Sul, it starts to rain again and the temperature rises a little”, said Sassaki.
North region
“The polar air mass has such a large amplitude that it can reach states in the northern region of Brazil”, said the meteorologist. Therefore, there will be cold in Rondônia and also in Acre. Temperatures are also expected to drop in these two states over the weekend.
“It’s a temporary system, and it doesn’t stay all week in the Center-South. As of Monday, it starts to dissipate and the temperature gradually rises again.”
Northeast Region
In the Northeast, the main alert region is the coastal region, according to Maria Clara Sassaki, from the south of Bahia to the state of Rio Grande do Norte.
She stated that the region is already in the rainy season, and that “whenever there is a cold front with great intensity rising from the south to the interior of Brazil, it ends up messing with the atmosphere in the ocean, and the rain increases in intensity on the northeast coast. .” Rain is expected to persist on Saturday and Sunday in the region.
In the interior of the region, the condition is of dry weather and low relative humidity.
Federal District
There is still little chance of rain in the Federal District, according to Maria Clara Sassaki, although cloudiness should rise.
“The thermal variation should not affect the population there. If it happens, it will be isolated, short-lived blows, and the temperature drops very little,” he said.
