Cold front hits southern and southeastern states over the next few days

The cities of São Paulo will be the ones that will register the highest level of rain because of the cold front that arrives in the south of the country between this Monday (14) and Tuesday (15).

Thunderstorms also occur in Mato Grosso do Sul. “The advance of this cold front should cause rain with thunderstorms, moderate winds and even hail,” detailed Climatempo meteorologist Maria Clara Sassaki to CNN Radio.

“There may be storms throughout the state of São Paulo, but the highest volumes occur in the capital, metropolitan region, coastal areas, Vale do Paraíba and Vale do Ribeira”, he added.

Maria Clara Sassaki pointed out that the cold will be less intense than at the beginning of November in these regions. The cold front loses strength as it reaches Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, but continues to cause heavy rains.

“It will be parked at the height of Minas Gerais, forming a corridor of humidity that goes from Espírito Santo to the North region of Brazil, where it causes significant rains for five days in a row”, explains Sassaki.

The meteorologist warned of the possibility of soggy ground and landslides.

“Espírito Santo, east of Minas Gerais, Vale do Jequitinhonha and north of Rio de Janeiro have a high risk of disturbances because of the large amount of water expected for this week”, he informed.

This humidity corridor does not reach the Northeast, which should continue with temperatures around 30°C this holiday. The coastal region of the Northeast should have only the rain showers in the late afternoon.
