Cold front reinforces rains in the South and Southeast this Monday

A cold front, which has been advancing from the southern region to the coast of São Paulo since Friday (4), helps to organize a large humidity corridor and causes rain from the coast of Santa Catarina to São Paulo this Monday (7).

“The week will be marked by rain in many states of the country and with a high risk for disorders”, predicts Climatempo.

Despite the rain persists on the coast of Santa Catarina and cities in the north and east of Paraná, the great highlight among the states this beginning of week should be São Paulo.

“The state will continue the day with closed and rainy weather. There is a risk of flooding, landslides and even overflowing rivers and streams due to the volume of rain”, point out Climatempo meteorologists.

The Climate Emergency Management Center (CGE) of the São Paulo City Hall warns that the day will remain unstable and rainy, with high volumes of precipitation being able to be recorded “from the region of Baixada Santista towards the extreme south of the capital, region Parelheiros and Capela do Socorro, in addition to São Bernardo do Campo and Santo André, municipalities in the Greater ABC region of São Paulo”.

“The minimum temperature must be recorded at night with a forecast of 19°C and the maximum must not exceed 23°C, with air humidity rates between 80% and 95%”, adds the CGE.

On the morning of this Monday (7), the Civil Defense of São Paulo warned on Twitter that heavy rain was happening around 7 am in the South Zone of the capital and ABC Paulista, with lightning and flooding.

“On Tuesday (8), there is no forecast of heavy rain, as the frontal system moves away towards the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais. However, the humid winds that blow from the sea favor the formation of many low clouds and light rain and drizzle will be occasional”, the CGE said in a note.
