Cold front should reduce heat in SP and Rio in the coming days

After facing strong heat for more than two weeks, southeastern Brazil is expected to see a decrease in temperatures in the coming days.

With the advance of the cold front that returned rain to Rio Grande do Sul, the forecast is for the weakening of the atmospheric blockage that caused the heat wave in the central region of the country since the end of April.

In São Paulo, on Monday (13), the entire state is in pre-frontal condition — with a set of situations that precede the arrival of the cold front.

According to Climatempo, wind conditions are expected to increase, with gusts between 51km/h and 70km/h in Greater São Paulo, regions of Sorocaba, Itapetininga, Limeira, and throughout the west and coast of the state. In other regions, winds can reach 50km/h.

There is also a forecast of an increase in the chances of rain on the coast and in the capital of São Paulo. This happens because the cold front advances over the sea and the humidity that comes from the sea increases rainy conditions.

On the coast, accumulations can reach 40mm, while in greater São Paulo, they range from 5mm to 10mm.

Despite the chance of rain in part of the state, the west of São Paulo is expected to have muggy weather. In São Carlos, Campinas, Bauru and Pirassununga, temperatures are around 29ºC and 31ºC.

In Rio de Janeiro, temperatures could reach 38ºC this Monday (13), but they tend to decrease from Tuesday (14), with the arrival of the cold front.

There is also an expectation of an increase in rainy conditions, with moderate to heavy showers on an irregular basis. There is no forecast of storms.

Just like in São Paulo, Rio residents are expected to face winds between 51km/h and 70km/h at the beginning of the week.

Temperature rises and falls

Climatempo warns of a seesaw in temperatures in both Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. Between Tuesday (13) and Wednesday (14), the weather may become more cloudy in both states.

On Thursday (15) and Friday (16), the heat returns. In São Paulo, the forecast is that temperatures will drop again next weekend.
