Collection with special participations of oil has 5th record in a row, says ANP

For the fifth consecutive month, Brazil broke a revenue record with special participations from the production of Petroleum . In the first quarter of this year, R$ 14.9 billion were collected, a growth of 20% compared to the fourth quarter of 2021. The figures were released by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP ).

According to the regulatory agency, the rise is mainly motivated by the increase in the reference price of a barrel of crude oil. brent in the international market.

Special participations are a second financial compensation, in addition to royalties, paid by concessionaires that explore very profitable fields, with a high volume of oil production and natural gas .

In this way, not all locations benefiting from royalties receive resources from special participations. The resources are divided as follows: 50% are from the Union. The remainder is divided among the producing locations: 40% among the states and 10% for the municipalities.

Thus, the Union received R$ 14.9 billion, four states shared R$ 6 billion and 26 municipalities shared R$ 1.4 billion.

Among the federation units, the Rio de Janeiro which concentrates around 80% of Brazil’s proven oil reserves and 60% of natural gas, is the biggest beneficiary.

The state will receive BRL 4.9 billion of the amount allocated to the Federation Units (82%), followed by São Paulo, with BRL 733 million (12%), BRL 310 million for Espírito Santo (5%) and R$ 23 million for Amazonas (0.03%).

Due to the disposition of the Brazilian oil basins, the people of Rio de Janeiro are also among the main beneficiaries in relation to the distribution of resources to the municipalities. The municipalities with the highest collections from this source are in the state: Maricá, in the Metropolitan Region, with R$ 561 million. Neighboring Niterói receives R$ 487 million.

Then come the state capital, with R$ 92 million, and Ilhabela, on the coast of São Paulo, with R$ 91 million. The four locations are part of the Santos Basin, where the hub is located. pre-salt with the main producing fields in the country, such as Búzios, Tupi and Mero.
