Collision between Supervia trains leaves 6 injured in the north of Rio

Two trains crashed into the Madureira Railway Station, in the north of Rio de Janeiro, on Monday morning (13).

According to information from the Fire Department, six people were injured – four were released at the scene and two were taken to the Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital.

Videos circulating on social media show passengers who were on the train walking along the railway line.

In a statement, Supervia, the concessionaire that operates the trains, regretted the inconvenience and said it was “working towards the rapid reestablishment of the operation”.

Despite information from firefighters, the company said there were no injuries in the accident.

A CNN asked Supervia about the information and is awaiting feedback.

Due to the accident, some trains are awaiting circulation orders to continue their journey, and trains in the Japeri direction continue to operate with stops at all stations on the line.

The health status of the victims taken to the hospital has not been disclosed at this time.
