Colombia: Army uses dog in heat to find dog Wilson

The Colombian army used an analogical strategy to find the dog Wilson, who disappeared in the Amazon rainforest during operations to rescue four missing children. To attract the animal, female dogs were available during the mating period.

“They started to leave him food in specific places and took him a female dog in heat to attract him with her scent,” the commander of the Army Special Force, General Pedro Sánchez, told RCN radio about the stratagem to rescue the animal. . Wilson was instrumental in the so-called Operation Hope, which consisted of searching for children who were lost in the jungle after the crash of the plane they were on, but which were lost during the operation.

The general said that the troops are still in the jungle, now in what he classified as “phase 2” of the Operation, with the objective precisely of locating the animal.

The army is engaged in the search. The motto “Let’s go for Wilson” appears in several posts by the corporation on social networks, bringing photos and videos of the dog and messages of affection and hope. “For now, the entire operation is focused on finding Wilson, because a command is never left behind,” Sánchez said.
