Comedian Jaime Gil da Costa, better known as Gil Brother Away, died this Monday (04), aged 66, in Rio de Janeiro. The information was confirmed by the artist’s official profile.
Gil, who appeared on several television programs, became known nationally in the 2000s when he was part of the cast of the program Hermes e Renato, on the now extinct MTV Brasil.
The artist had been hospitalized since May 2023, when he suffered a stroke. Since then, he had been battling a series of health problems, including two cancers, one in his prostate and the other in his bladder.
The artist’s nephew, Willian Passos, who managed the comedian’s social networks, even opened a virtual crowdfunding to help with the costs of his uncle’s hospitalization. The amount raised reached more than R$120 thousand. There is no information about the artist’s wake or burial.
