Commerce was the sector that led the creation of jobs in the quarter ended in December 2021, with 602,000 admissions compared to the quarter ended in September, according to data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (Pnad Contínua), released this Thursday. Thursday (24) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
In the transition from the quarter ended in September to the quarter ended in December, vacancies were created in the following activities: other services (521 thousand employed), industry (213 thousand), accommodation and food (253 thousand), transportation (58 thousand), construction ( 242 thousand), domestic services (346 thousand), information, communication and financial activities (367 thousand) and public administration, defence, social security, education, human health and social services (357 thousand).
The only activity with layoffs was agriculture, livestock, forestry, fishing and aquaculture, with 166,000 fewer workers.
In relation to the level of a year earlier, there were gains in all activities. Agriculture hired 381,000 workers, and public administration, defense, social security, education, human health and social services hired 214,000 more workers.
Construction contracted 1.108 million, trade absorbed 1.919 million.
Accommodation and food opened 994 thousand jobs, and domestic services gained 1.028 million workers.
The industry hired 1.038 million employees, while the information, communication and financial activities sector absorbed 768 thousand. Transport gained 441,000 jobs, and other services admitted 631,000 people.
