Commission accuses Google for violating European competition rules

The European Commission has today decided that the Google search engine and the Google Play online store, two Alphabet US Group ownership services, are violating EU competition rules, thus opening the door to imposing huge fines on the US technological giant. At the same time, the Commission ordered Apple to improve the interoperability of its iPhone and iPads with affiliated devices from competitive brands, such as clocks and headphones, as European regulatory authorities continue to take stricter measures against technological giants. The committee’s move comes amid EU tensions with US President Donald Trump, who threatens to impose duties on countries imposing fines on US companies.
