THE Commission reached an agreement with Modern to accelerate the delivery of its mRNA vaccine against it coronavirus in the Member States of the European Union in short-term need, in particular in Germany.
According to APE BPE, Moderna agreed to the delivery 10 million doses in December for Germany. These doses are equivalent to vaccination 20 million citizens receiving a booster dose – as only half a dose is used in this case.
In addition, Moderna will deliver an additional 25 million installments to Germany in the first quarter of 2022, ie 50 million boost doses.
Further acceleration of deliveries by Moderna is being prepared for the first quarter of 2022, to the benefit of additional Member States.

Faced with the rapid increase in infections due to Omicron mutation and the need to escalate vaccination, including booster doses, the Commission is working with vaccine manufacturers to further speed up the delivery of vaccine doses to Member States that need additional doses in the short term, the statement said.
