Commission: We are working with the WHO to ensure that vaccination certificates are recognized elsewhere in the world

The EU is already working with the World Health Organization to ensure that vaccination certificates can be recognized both in the EU and in other parts of the world, the Commission said in a post.

At the same time, it is emphasized that green certificates meet data protection requirements.

In particular, it states: “Next week we will present a proposal for digital green certificates. This digital proof that a person has been vaccinated against COVID-19, has recovered from COVID-19 or has a negative test.

It will facilitate the safe free movement of citizens in the EU.

Digital green certificates meet data protection, security and privacy requirements.

They should be created on the basis of the interoperability guidelines and the common data set of test results, for which EU countries have already agreed. EU countries need to move quickly to prepare for the practical issues of issuing the certificate.

We are also working with the WHO to ensure that certificates issued in the EU can be recognized elsewhere in the world. “
