A man who had been convicted of murder in the US and waited for his execution committed suicide in prison. In 2008, Matthew Caylor raped and killed a 13 -year -old girl, Melinda Hinson. The girl stayed with her family in a local motel where she met Caylor. The motel maid found her corpse under the bed two days later. The Georgia man was sentenced to first-degree murder, sexual abuse by violence and a serious child abuse in October 2009 and was sentenced to death by 8-4 votes. The case was one of the dozens of all over the state of Florida where new hearing was ordered to impose penalties following a decision by the Florida Supreme Court in 2016 that death penalties require unanimous votes.
